About the role

The Gas Utility Engineer performs complex professional and administrative work overseeing the planning and engineering of all gas utility projects for the City of Charlottesville. This position reports to the Director or Deputy Director of Utilities and operates with substantial discretion within broad parameters.

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and implement strategies and policies for the purchase and sale of natural gas.
• Protect the City's interests regarding regulatory, supply, and procurement issues.
• Assist in overseeing the administration, maintenance, and operation of the municipal natural gas distribution system.
