Jessica Hernandez Garcia, Assistant Professor at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, was honored as a recipient of the 2025 HTRS/Novo Nordisk Clinical Scholar Award.

This award further fuels her commitment to advancing care and research for children with bleeding disorders.

Research Focus

Dr. Garcia's clinical focus is on hemostasis, where she leads the care of people with hemophilia.

Her overarching career goal is to conduct research that informs and improves clinical care in hemophilia.

Mentorship

Drs. Garcia's Clinical Scholar Award period will be guided by her primary mentor, Ayesha Zia, MD, MSCS.

Expertise Development

During her award period, Dr. Garcia aims to enhance her expertise in:

• Management of patients with hemophilia who are at risk for or have established joint disease
• Global and special coagulation assays
• Gain proficiency in joint health evaluation through point of care ultrasound
• Develop and implement a joint clinic for persons with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders
