About the role
UST is seeking a Java backend engineer lead to join a multi-vendor, multi-geo team building a NextGen High Scale Enterprise Platform. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java-based applications, implementing scalable microservices architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based applications using strong object-oriented programming principles and industry-standard design patterns.
- Build and implement scalable microservices architecture, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- Develop Spring Boot applications with expertise in: Dependency Injection (Spring Core), RESTful API development, ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA), and design and consume REST APIs for seamless integration between services and external systems.
- Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, including: Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database / Cosmos DB.
- Implement and follow CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps/Jenkins for: Automated builds, Unit & integration testing, Continuous deployment, and collaboration with Dev, QA, and DevOps teams.
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting of complex technical issues in real-time.
- Participate in hands-on coding exercises and problem-solving sessions, demonstrating strong logical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines throughout the development lifecycle.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts, project updates, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuously learn and adopt new tools, frameworks, and cloud best practices to improve system design and development efficiency.
Requirements
- 5-6 years hands-on experience in Java development at enterprise level (recent).
- Experience in working Java Version 18 or above is mandatory.
- 3-4 years of hands-on experience with Kafka.
- 2-3 years of solid experience in Kubernetes.
- Strong programming skills in Java, including object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and familiarity with Java frameworks.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and experience in building and deploying microservices-based applications.
- Hands-on experience in developing Spring Boot applications, including dependency injection, ORM (Object-Relational Mapping), and REST API development.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL or Cosmos DB.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices, including automated builds, unit & integration testing, continuous deployment, and deployment strategies.
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries as per industrial standards, fine-tuned for optimization.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, good communication (written & verbal) skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Skills and experiences
- Mandatory: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, Rest API, SQL, Cosmos DB (or any NoSQL).
- Nice to have: Azure or GCP experience.
