Jacksonville Icemen Broadcasting and Public Relations Internship 2026-2027 Season
Timeline: September 2026 – April 2027 (or through the completion of the playoffs)
About the role
The Broadcasting and Public Relations Intern will work closely with the Communications, Broadcasting, and Marketing teams to support the organization's media relations, game broadcasts, and public communications efforts. This role will assist with game-day broadcasting operations, preparing media materials, coordinating interviews, writing press releases and game recaps, managing media requests, and creating engaging digital content for fans and media partners. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in professional sports communications, broadcasting, and public relations while helping share the story of the tenth anniversary season of the Jacksonville Icemen throughout the season.
Responsibilities
On Game Days your responsibilities may include:
- Co-host live pre and postgame shows
- Assist at morning skates with conducting pregame content
- Manage game notes and line chart distribution
- Work with home and away coaching staff, coordinating media notes, video setup, and team needs
- Assist with postgame press releases and highlight content
- Cut game highlights for posting on social media and YouTube
- Coordinate between broadcast staff, communications staff, and gameday staff and assist as necessary
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of hockey
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Suites and PremierePro
- On-air experience a plus
Compensation
This is a non-paid internship. School credit may be earned if applicable.
