About the Role

This position reports to the Item Processing Officer and involves processing and balancing check transactions, check adjustments, and shared branching transactions accurately and on time. You will oversee daily operations of the Item Processing department in the absence of management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties assigned to an Item Processing Specialist I, II, and III as necessary.
  • Understand and participate in the business continuity of operations plan and planned tests.
  • Complete relevant training to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, federal and state laws, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete assigned tasks in accordance with procedures and established deadlines.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Assist in the timely completion of special projects and tasks.
  • Supervise staff to ensure accurate completion of all department tasks by established deadlines.
  • Assist with escalated support requests related to check processing.
  • Ensure designated custodial accounts are reconciled and corrections are made promptly.
  • Assist with the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports for the department.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of procedures and workflows; ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation as changes occur.
  • Assist with staff training and quality control.
  • Provide input and support for process improvement, operational efficiencies, and automation of department processes or implementation of new technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with members and employees.
  • Familiarity with financial institution operations or payment processing is preferred.
  • Aptitude for solving problems and working collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, accurately and timely complete assigned tasks, and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be well-organized and able to adapt to new processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated drive to be a leader.

Qualifications

Assignment to the Item Processing Specialist I (Category 15), Item Processing Specialist II (Category 14), Item Processing Specialist III (Category 13), or Senior Item Processing Specialist (Category 12) will be determined by the candidate's education or experience. Advancement requires management recommendation and will be based on the candidate's certifications and/or performance.

Pay

  • Salary Pay Range: Category 12 – $53,226 - $81,405 annually
  • Salary Pay Range: Category 13 – $49,284 - $73,391 annually
  • Salary Pay Range: Category 14 – $45,633 - $66,624 annually
  • Salary Pay Range: Category 15 – $42,254 - $60,844 annually
