Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist I at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming medical supplies, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring supply areas are organized and properly stocked across perioperative and/or distribution service areas. This role supports daily inventory oversight, restocking, and par-level management, while assisting with training less experienced staff. The position also serves as a resource for supply and equipment information, helping maintain efficient operations and supporting a safe, organized work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Some experience in supply chain, materials management, or healthcare logistics
• Basic knowledge of surgical and medical supply needs
• Considerable standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
• Proficient in the safe operation and handling of manual and electric pallet jacks, dollies, and other warehouse transportation equipment
• Experienced in moving, loading, and unloading materials efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
• Ability to lift and transport supplies up to 60 pounds as needed
• Knowledgeable of equipment maintenance procedures and able to perform basic inspections before use
• Basic computer proficiency
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, inventory software
• Introduction to medical supply needs
• Hands-on experience with inventory tracking software
• Understanding hospital policies for supply storage and compliance
