About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator & Lab Operations Engineer to support engineering lab environments for NASA programs. This role focuses on domain/identity administration, endpoint management, system configuration, and day‑to‑day lab IT operations. Ideal candidates bring strong technical troubleshooting skills, experience managing large workstation environments, and the ability to support multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage endpoint platforms (ManageEngine, JAMF, Ivanti, Intune, PDQ, Lansweeper)
  • Oversee workstation imaging, OS deployments, patching, and lab refresh cycles
  • Support lab systems, printers, network-connected devices, and resource configurations
  • Maintain ticketing and inventory systems (ManageEngine Service Desk, Track‑IT, Zendesk)
  • Assist engineers during integration/testing events and troubleshoot lab hardware/software
  • Uphold cybersecurity and compliance practices; previous LASO or similar experience valued
  • Provide documentation, training, and support for technicians and lab users

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • 5+ years of IT Systems Administration or technical support
  • Strong experience with domain management, endpoint administration, and GPO
  • Hands-on workstation imaging, deployment, and lab-scale patching
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and basic switch/cabling troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix or willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and cross‑team collaboration skills
  • Must work onsite at NASA JSC and pass required background checks

Preferences

  • Experience with SSO/MFA (SAML, ADFS migrations)
  • Support of technical lab environments or specialized hardware
  • Train Service Technicians and other IT Resource Team Members
  • Automation or scripting (PowerShell, Bash, PDQ, JAMF)
  • Administer Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra, Group Policy, SSO, and identity workflows
  • Server administration (print, SQL, licensing, endpoint management)
  • Virtualization experience (VirtualBox or similar)
  • NASA or government IT experience

Schedule

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
