IT Support Technician - Tier 2 (Onsite 1st Shift, Mon-Fri) (Full-time)

About the role
This full-time position within the Information Technology Department supports the IT needs of the company, including end-user computer systems, business systems, and technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will resolve help desk requests, monitor key systems, and assist with installation and upgrades to the IT infrastructure. Working alongside an experienced IT team, this role offers continuous learning and growth opportunities as responsibilities expand with increased skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Provide end-user computer system support, including setup, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Train and assist end users with solutions to help desk-generated issues.
- Maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
- Monitor and analyze network usage and performance.
- Recommend upgrades, patches, and services based on business strategies and IT projects.
- Perform malware and virus detection, identification, quarantine, and removal.
- Write and methodically execute batch or PowerShell scripts.
- Provide phone system administration, including wireless VoIP phones.
- Work with company security systems administration infrastructure, including facial recognition, HID, and video systems.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot printers and multi-function machines.
- Conduct user and/or departmental training.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge base with current information and troubleshooting techniques in information technology.
- Maintain appropriate service level agreements (SLA) for end-user support.
Requirements
- Certifications and accreditations common in the information technology field, such as:
- Microsoft A+ or Network+ or Azure Certifications.
- Microsoft 365 administration and applications.
- Linux system administration.
- Three years of prior helpdesk or support position experience.
- A demonstrated commitment to continuing education in related fields and technologies.
- Experience in the following IT disciplines:
- Windows Desktop operating systems including Windows 10 and 11.
- Mobile operating system support such as iOS/Android.
- Working knowledge of OSI model, switching and routing, and network cabling.
- Microsoft Active Directory experience.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery methods.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong and methodical troubleshooting skills with excellence in evaluating priority, impact, and severity.
- High regard for customer (end-user) service.
- Willingness to work weekends and off-hours for maintenance, planned outages, or emergencies.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or similar field, or equivalent and relevant job experience.
Work Environment
- Must be able to pass a vision test and fitness-for-duty test.
- Follow general shop safety procedures, including occasional use of safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs.
- Able to manually operate various types of office equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the day.
