Qualifications
- Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, business or public administration, or a related field; and
- Seven (7) years experience in architectural design, project or construction management, or related area, including three (3) years supervisory experience; or
- A year-for-year interchange of defined education and/or experience equal to the minimum number of years required.
Licensing Requirements
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License or proof of mobility equivalent may be requested.
- License issued as a Professional Engineer or Architect is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform interpretive duties related to overseeing the Building Construction Division within the Department of General Services.
- Establish and implement program goals and objectives, manage assigned staff, oversee the completion of construction work requests, and develop and administer assigned divisional budget.
- Administer divisional functions and operations, including planning, budgeting, staffing, and accomplishing divisional goals and objectives.
- Manage assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating employee performance, resolving staff conflicts, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, and administering disciplinary action as required.
- Develop and implement divisional operating policies, procedures, strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Implement and administer capital improvement and energy programs for the assigned division.
- Direct the review of facility studies and planning efforts to ensure compliance with established regulations.
- Oversee various facility construction projects, including mechanical, electrical, and structural projects.
- Ensure the completion of construction project requests.
- Approve the selection of service contractors and supply vendors for facility construction activities.
- Evaluate proposed technical solutions to facility system failures or system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance of pending and completed construction projects with Federal, state, and local mandates, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
- Coordinate facility construction projects with the Director, General Services, assigned staff, Department Heads, and Appointing Authorities to ensure work requests are justified and completed.
