IT Specialist (CUSTSPT/PLCYPLN)

About the role

This position is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. § 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It supports the mission of US Cyber Command, is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, and is located in the DISA J9 (HAC)/HC4 CUST EXP PORTFOLIO OFC (HC4122).

Responsibilities

• Performs information technology (IT) customer support focusing and synchronizing DISA and customer efforts to achieve mission goals and increase operational effectiveness.
• Works with the customer to identify customer requirements based on analysis of business needs and practices.
• Assists in analyzing functional requirements and utilizes entry‑level knowledge of operating systems, applications software, and IT policies/procedures to assist in developing viable IT solutions and alternatives.
• Assists in the review of customer requirement documents and other requests for proposals to specify all technical requirements and concerns to the directorate's engineering staff as appropriate.
• Brokers new customer workload and works with the project team leader, mentor, and advisor to support team members with project oversight and coordination efforts with other information systems professionals and technical personnel.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance; failure to maintain eligibility may result in termination.
• Subject to DoD 8140 policy series: must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months.
• This is a drug‑testing position.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Position is designated Mission Essential.
