IT ServiceNow Engineer
About the role
The IT Engineer at Xcel Energy is responsible for contributing to the technical aspects of IT solution delivery, strategic planning, and operational excellence. They manage the overall health of the technology ecosystem and implement solutions that meet business needs while supporting the IT strategy.
Responsibilities
- Platform Engineering: Design, develop, configure, test, and deploy ServiceNow solutions utilizing platform best practices.
- Service Catalog & Workflow Development: Design and develop Service Catalog items, Record Producers, Knowledge workflows, and automated fulfillment processes.
- ServiceNow Module Development: Provide Development Support Across Multiple ServiceNow Products Including ITSM, HR Service Delivery (HRSD), Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), Employee Center, Knowledge Management, and AI/Now Assist capabilities.
- Integration Engineering: Design and support integrations using REST APIs, SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, middleware platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Operational Excellence: Support production incidents, problem investigations, and root cause analysis activities; participate in platform upgrades, patches, release management, and operational support activities; monitor platform health, performance, reliability, and service availability; drive continuous improvement initiatives across the platform.
Requirements
- Seven years of related functional experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.
- Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill set, and able to translate between technical and non-technical concepts.
- Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results.
- Deep Subject Matter Expertise within the respective system domain products, platforms, processes and architecture.
- Broad general knowledge of technology architecture, infrastructure, network, security and software principles and models.
- Experience managing the lifecycle of technical solutions.
- Experience working in partnership with internal and external vendors.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Extensive knowledge of future technology trends within area of expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership on technical aspects of large scale projects.
- Experience with delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and operational models (ITIL).
- Experience and understanding of core IT Service Management functions, such as Change Management and Incident Management.
Preferred Requirements
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
- Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification.
- HRSD Implementation Specialist.
- ITSM Implementation Specialist.
- Experience with AI capabilities (Now Assist).

Pay
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $97,600.00 to $138,600.00 per year.
