Homeland Talent Solutions is representing an established and growing enterprise EdTech software organization seeking a Senior AI Modernization Engineer (.NET/C#) to play a key role in a large-scale ERP and payroll platform modernization initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand legacy COBOL applications, batch jobs, copybooks, file-processing workflows, and embedded business rules
  • Design, develop, and maintain modern C#/NET solutions supporting ERP and payroll platforms
  • Participate in large-scale modernization efforts involving millions of lines of legacy application code
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modernization techniques to accelerate code transformation and engineering productivity
  • Build automated testing frameworks, validation processes, and quality controls to ensure functional equivalency between legacy and modernized applications
  • Identify data dependencies, business process workflows, and integration requirements across ERP modules
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering leaders to define modernization strategies and technical roadmaps
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, database, and integration issues
  • Document modernization approaches, business logic mappings, and technical design decisions
  • Contribute to long-term platform scalability, maintainability, and technical debt reduction initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the development organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET, REST APIs, SQL Server, and Object-Oriented Design principles
  • Experience analyzing, understanding, and modernizing legacy COBOL applications
  • Experience leading application modernization, migration, refactoring, or legacy transformation initiatives
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools and agentic AI frameworks (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, OpenAI, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen) in production environments
  • Experience building AI-assisted modernization workflows, code migration frameworks, or AI-driven engineering solutions
  • Experience designing and implementing automated testing, validation, reconciliation, and data integrity frameworks to ensure functional equivalency during modernization and migration efforts
  • Experience working with large, highly integrated enterprise applications, including ERP, payroll, financial, or other highly transactional systems
  • Experience interpreting complex business rules and translating them into scalable modern software architectures
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and systems analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Genero 4JS, legacy ERP platforms, payroll systems, financial systems, or enterprise application modernization environments preferred
