About the role
Allient Inc. is seeking a motivated and technically curious IT Intern to support our Information Technology team across our global operations in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This is a hands-on internship offering real-world experience in enterprise IT environments. The intern will assist with day-to-day IT operations, end-user support, and infrastructure projects across our locations in Wisconsin, Texas, Mexico, and China. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and is eager to gain practical experience in a dynamic, multi-site manufacturing and production environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 technical support to end users across Windows workstations
- Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Image, configure, and deploy workstations using Microsoft Intune (hybrid deployment)
- Support user onboarding and offboarding processes including account provisioning in Microsoft 365
- Assist the IT team with maintenance and monitoring of Windows Server environments
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting across multiple sites
- Support Microsoft Intune hybrid environment for device enrollment, compliance policies, and app deployment
- Help monitor endpoint security policies and assist with remediation tasks
- Provide basic support for NetSuite ERP system users (password resets, access requests, navigation assistance)
- Coordinate with end users at production, warehouse, and administrative locations on NetSuite-related IT requests
- Assist with IT asset inventory tracking and management
- Support ongoing IT projects and initiatives as assigned
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an Associate's, Bachelor's, or technical certificate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-service mindset
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Prior internship, coursework, or lab experience in IT support or systems administration
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure Active Directory or Entra ID
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune or endpoint management tools
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus)
- Understanding of firewall and wireless networking concepts (Cisco Meraki a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint)
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications (in progress or completed)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This position is based in Wisconsin
- The intern may occasionally be required to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 lbs
- The role involves working in office, warehouse, and production floor environments
- Some remote work may be available depending on project requirements and academic schedule
