Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned theory and lab classes.
  • Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab.
  • Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
  • Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing general services and repairs on computers, to include instruction in shop safety.
  • Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Ranken’s safety standards.
  • Teaching duties include various IT subjects and work ethic.
  • Aids in the maintenance of computer lab and classroom equipment.
  • Aids in developing curriculum and syllabi, budgeting, scheduling, hiring, and other duties.
  • Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
  • Participates in available training to keep current in Information Technology.
  • Aids in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field preferred.
  • Technical faculty not possessing a bachelor’s degree in the field shall meet ONE of the following criteria:
    • A bachelor’s degree with the industry certifications to teach the identified technical courses.
    • An associate degree in the field from a regionally accredited institution and five years of work experience in the related field.
    • A certificate in the field from a regionally accredited institution and seven years of work experience in the industry.
    • Ten years of work experience in the industry.
    • Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred but we will train.
  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server 2022 and CISCO products required.
  • Networking OSI model and subnetting fundamentals required.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware, Command Line, Windows OS, Linux required.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and/or GCloud preferred.
