About the role

Information technology specialists are responsible for maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems/operations. Enlisting is required and involves pre‑qualifying questions, an interview, an academic test, and a physical. This is an initial entry job skill; no prior experience is necessary. The Army will send you to school to learn the job and obtain the necessary certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of networks, hardware, and software
• Provide customer and network administration services
• Construct, edit, and test computer programs

Requirements

• Ages 17‑34; ages 35‑39 require a waiver
• Must complete pre‑qualifying questions, interview, academic test, and physical to help identify suitable Army jobs
• Required ASVAB Score: Skilled Technical (ST): 95

Qualifications

• Job training: 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on‑the‑job instruction
• Education: High school or equivalent required

• Use of computer consoles and peripheral equipment

• Planning, designing, and testing computer systems

• Experience in the installation of computers

$40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year.
