  • Perform network switch cutovers and equipment deployments while minimizing downtime.
  • Run and manage copper and fiber cabling, including patch-panel and SFP/SFP+ connections.
  • Troubleshoot basic connectivity and network issues using tools such as ping, traceroute, and cable toners.
  • Perform wiring-closet inspections and ensure network rooms remain organized, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Monitor ITSM incidents and coordinate with networking teams regarding device assignments and deployments.
  • Assist with system health checks, backup verification, and restore testing.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support device assignment workflows.
  • Update tickets and technical documentation in accordance with established templates and quality standards.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly activity reporting.
  • Follow established implementation plans, change-management procedures, and deployment standards.
  • Participate in technical discussions, team projects, and preparation of briefing materials as needed.
  • Work independently or as part of a deployment team across multiple locations.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of hands-on experience installing, replacing, or supporting network switches.
  • CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST), or equivalent certification; 3+ years of relevant experience may substitute for the certification requirement.

  • Experience following detailed implementation and change-management procedures.
  • Basic Windows PC and peripheral troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform basic connectivity testing using ping, traceroute, cable toners, and similar tools.
  • Ability to lift and install IT equipment in network closets and server rooms.
  • Ability to climb ladders as required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a technical deployment team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience installing, replacing, or supporting network switches.
  • Cisco CCNA certification.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and supporting wireless access points.
  • Experience conducting and documenting network site surveys.
  • Experience with patch panels and structured cabling standards.
  • Experience documenting network installations and infrastructure work with detailed notes and photographs.
  • Experience supporting multi-site enterprise or public-sector IT environments.
  • Experience with IT inventory systems and device assignment workflows.

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidates will be hands-on network technicians with experience physically installing and replacing switches, running and troubleshooting cabling, performing switch cutovers, and supporting network infrastructure across multiple locations. This is best suited for someone who enjoys field-based work, is comfortable traveling to different sites, can work independently, and has enough networking knowledge to troubleshoot routine infrastructure issues without requiring a senior network engineer.
