IT Field Services Engineer

This position is based in the regional office as a member of the IT team, focusing on overall support for the office and regional job sites. Face-to-face support will make up most of your day, troubleshooting problems related to desktop computing, servers, networks, wireless, or remote environments.

Responsibilities

  • Self-starter with strong self-motivation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, collaborating with other teams to ensure resolution
  • Provide support for VIP needs and issues
  • Serve as second-level support for Help Desk requests and incidents, focusing on medium to difficult issues
  • Follow and create standard operating procedures for processes and documentation
  • Recommend and implement process improvements
  • Respond to job site service requests for installation, configuration, and maintenance of internet services, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and Audio/Visual systems
  • Adhere to established operating procedures and propose enhancements
  • Frequent travel within the New York region and occasional out-of-state travel to regional offices or job sites
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • 4-7 years of experience in an IT role, including Help Desk and hardware deployment/configuration
  • 2-3 years of end-user facing support experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of the IT team
  • Subject-matter expertise in PC hardware and software, with an emphasis on Microsoft environments
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including desktops, servers, routers, switches, wireless devices, and mobile devices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure (a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Audio-Visual technology and systems
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN administration and support
  • Ability to interface professionally and confidently with VIPs
  • Familiarity with Service Desk Ticketing software (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate problem sources
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Willingness to work in a highly structured environment
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic atmosphere
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Basic project management skills
  • Ability to develop processes and documentation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods; talk or hear; and use fine motor, hand, and finger skills for keyboard, telephone, or writing tasks. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is primarily office-based with a quiet to moderate noise level, but may also involve walking at job sites.
