IT Desktop Support Technician

This opportunity is with a global materials science company that produces cable and connectivity products for telecommunications infrastructure at its Newton, NC manufacturing facility. The IT team supports plant operations, ensuring the technology behind daily manufacturing runs smoothly. This role provides hands-on technical support in a hybrid environment that blends traditional desktop support with the unique demands of a manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

• Interact with end users to gather and define system and solution requirements
• Assist with deployment and maintenance of manufacturing floor devices including scan guns, printers, and servers
• Maintain and organize document repositories in SharePoint
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues that impact daily operations
• Support ongoing IT projects for the plant
• Provide desktop and help desk support to onsite staff

Requirements

• 2 year degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in an IT support role, including hardware and software support
• Working knowledge of server and network infrastructure
• Experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration tools
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with SharePoint administration
• Exposure to cybersecurity best practices

• IT support across desktop, hardware, and software troubleshooting
• Help desk and end user support in corporate or manufacturing environments
• Server and network infrastructure fundamentals

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Pay

Up to $36.34 per hour
