IT - Desktop Engineer III

About the role

Design, perform application packaging, operating system deployments, and security patching for MS Windows 7 through 10, Office 2010 through 2016, and related third-party applications. Create and utilize test plans and test cases, and document and test technical and informational bulletins.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, integrate, upgrade, and support Microsoft Windows Desktop applications and package engineering for MS Windows XP (legacy support), Windows 7-10, and Office 2010-2016 (and related third-party applications).
• Design, test, integrate, upgrade, and support Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems with minimal supervision.
• Develop and maintain MS Windows PowerShell scripts.
• Expertise in Group Policy design and support for workstations.
• Understand and utilize SCCM package deployment with 2-3 years' experience delivering applications, OS images, and security patches via SCCM 2012 and above.
• Familiarity with general application packaging, delivery, and virtualization software.
• Provide technical desktop engineering practices, recommendations, advice, and enhancements based on prior successful OS image and application integrations.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
• Provide status reports on systems and services.
• Participate in an on-call schedule as needed.
• Schedule flexibility for emergent issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7+ years' experience in the field.
• Advanced proficiency and understanding of software and hardware licensing and support/maintenance agreements.
• Highly effective writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minor supervision.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation, team-building, positive thinking, can-do attitude, and a drive to learn.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, B. Tech, or equivalent work experience.
• Required: Valid driver's license.
• Preferred: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).
• Preferred: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
• Preferred: Citrix Certified Professional (CCP) or Citrix Certified Expert (CCE).
• Preferred: CompTIA Server+ certification.

Skills

• VMware Horizon View VDI and/or Citrix experience (preferred).
• SCCM Compliance Baselines and Remediation (preferred).
• Symantec Endpoint Protection experience (preferred).
