IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSANALYSIS/INFOSEC)

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is a professional role at the full performance work level within the CES Occupational Structure, located in the DISA - FE/Endpoint Services/Customer Support Directorate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform needs analysis, consulting with customers to identify and specify requirements and specifications for purchasing and contracts related to IT services, equipment, products, supplies, and property.
  • Provide advice to Engineering and Architecture Branch personnel, other J63H4 personnel, and agency-wide PFPA personnel on information management issues in the design, integration, and implementation of security systems.
  • Apply project management principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software changes to various computer systems.
  • Consult on all aspects of IT programs, including monitoring technical support and service provided on hardware and software, cable-plant, implementations of national standards, planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position requires completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • This is a drug-testing designated position. Individuals tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement and random drug testing after appointment.
  • OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, is required within 30 days of appointment pursuant to 5 CFR 2634.903(b) (DoD 5500.7).
  • This position is designated as MISSION ESSENTIAL.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position:

  • Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing your own information technology-related work or data and being asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Oral Communication: Briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience

To qualify at the GG-12 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and military service, equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. Qualifying experience includes:

  • Providing advice and guidance on Information Technology issues.
  • Interpreting IT policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Conducting analysis of IT-related issues.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
