IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSANALYSIS/INFOSEC)
About the role
This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is identified as essential to supporting the mission of the US Cyber Command, classified in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, and located in DISA - HC/DoDNET Services.
Responsibilities
- Direct comprehensive analysis to identify, define, and implement strategic efforts supporting operations for both on-premise and off-premise cloud infrastructure.
- Identify potential risk areas for hardware changes, including operational support models maintaining multiple processes depending on the infrastructure.
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance on IT issues affecting an entire organization or its major components.
- Oversee broad subject-matter IT areas including models, communications, architecture, systems planning, and long-term system development to identify application areas.
- Lead operational support models and/or life-cycle system development.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance; failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Subject to initial and random drug testing.
- Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months as per DoD 8140 policy series.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must demonstrate the following competencies through IT-related experience:
- Attention to Detail: Reviewing IT-related work or data and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: Developing and maintaining customer relationships, assessing IT needs, and tailoring solutions.
- Oral Communication: Briefing senior-level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or operations, including complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Identifying alternatives for unique, highly complex, or sensitive IT-related issues and evaluating potential solutions.
Qualifying Experience for GG-14: At least one year of experience in information technology, including architecture, systems planning, long-term system development, life-cycle system development, and implementing strategic efforts for on- and off-premise cloud infrastructure. Volunteer experience (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) may be considered. Candidates must describe how they meet qualifying experience in their resume.
All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. There is no substitution of education for qualifying experience at the GG-14 grade level.

- A three-year trial period may be required if not previously completed in the excepted or competitive service.

- The position is subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by DoD Manual 8140.
