Responsibilities
- Makes administrative decisions regarding budget preparation and coordination.
- Maintains and reviews administrative practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Analyzes financial resources and directs staff in budget preparation.
- Maintains and monitors data in the budget system and budget request processes.
- Administers budgets for all service centers, including general fund and fleet service internal service fund expenditures.
- Consults with department heads to gather budget information and provide guidance.
- Prepares budget presentation materials and attends budget hearings to support the budget process.
- Monitors and verifies operating CIP expenditures against budgetary limitations.
- Anticipates funding needs and recommends fund transfers within budgetary constraints.
- Prepares City Council resolutions for CIP project appropriations.
- Audits travel expense reports to ensure compliance with the City of Memphis Travel Policy.
- Assists in developing and completing special projects.
- Attends meetings and conferences to support division goals and make presentations.
- Maintains oversight of available funds in the financial system, including encumbered line.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field with 4 years of experience in administrative budget matters and/or contract preparation.
- Any combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Working experience using various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and Oracle, is preferred.
