IT Business Applications Manager
About the role
The IT Business Applications Manager leads, supports, and optimizes enterprise business systems that enable core functions across HR, Payroll, Finance, and Operations. This role oversees a team of application professionals and works closely with business leaders to ensure technology effectively supports workforce management, financial processes, and operational execution.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business analysts and application administrators
Establish priorities, performance expectations, and career development plans
Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture supporting both office and field operations
Ensure reliable support coverage for business-critical systems such as payroll and job costing
Manage enterprise systems supporting: HR & Payroll (HRIS, time and attendance, benefits administration), Finance & Accounting (ERP, job costing, WIP, AP/AR, financial reporting), Operations (project management, labor tracking, procurement)
Ensure system availability, stability, and performance
Oversee system upgrades, patches, and enhancement initiatives
Stakeholder Partnership
Act as a strategic IT partner to HR, Payroll, Finance, and Operations leadership
Translate business needs into scalable application solutions
Communicate system updates, outages, and enhancements clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Vendor & Project Management
Manage relationships with software vendors, consultants, and implementation partners
Lead application-focused initiatives such as ERP upgrades and system enhancements
Evaluate and recommend technology solutions to improve efficiency and scalability
Governance, Security & Compliance
Ensure systems meet security standards, data privacy requirements, and regulatory compliance
Support compliance related to payroll, labor laws, and financial controls
Maintain system documentation, user access controls, and change management processes
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience managing enterprise business applications
2+ years of people management experience
Strong in business analysis (requirements gathering, process mapping, solution design)
Experience with accounting, payroll, and HR systems (UKG preferred)
Proven experience managing vendors and delivering application-related projects
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Experience in multi-site or field-based environments (e.g., construction, engineering, or similar industries)
Familiarity with applications such as Autodesk, CMiC, or Procore
Experience supporting user adoption and change management initiatives
PMP, ITIL, or other relevant certifications
