IT Business Analyst

About the role
This hybrid position requires 3 days on-site at our Corporate office in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. The IT Business Analyst serves as the liaison between business and IT departments, translating business needs into IT solutions and ensuring efficient system performance. The role involves analysis, requirements definition, and collaboration with project teams to implement system changes or new technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate business and system expertise by problem-solving, providing analysis, and proposing system solution options and functional specifications.
- Assist with the identification, analysis, and resolution of application issues.
- Provide analysis to support new software implementation and enhancement business cases.
- Create project-level documentation for current and future state solutions, including meeting notes, key decisions, and risks.
- Document business requirements and design specifications.
- Work within an agile framework, assisting in sprint planning, creating user stories, acceptance criteria, and providing testing and reporting support.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions to identify end-to-end solutions, incorporating business processes, re-engineering, or new system functionality.
- Develop functional, reporting, security, and technical requirements, collaborating closely with developers on design and testing.
- Support quality assurance by managing project tasks, coordinating with QA, and acting as a unit tester for new functions and features.
- Act as a liaison between IT and business groups, ensuring project or deployment support.
- Organize and disseminate complex information to stakeholders, identifying and resolving constraints, risks, and issues.
- Create clear and concise documentation, including issue, risk, and decision logs, as well as status reports.
- Assist or lead small project teams, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years’ experience working with systems and within an SDLC, including business process mapping.
- 3+ years’ experience in requirements gathering and system development methodologies.
- Previous business analysis experience.
- Ability to translate business needs into system specifications, with familiarity in agile frameworks (Epic, Feature, Story creation).
- Experience working with project teams from initiation to closing.
- Excellent critical thinking, process analysis, and mapping skills (e.g., Visio, Lucid).
- Strong collaboration, influencing, and listening skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- PMI-PBA, CBAP, or CAPM certification (in good standing).
- Agile Practice Certification (CSM or AAC).
- Building or construction industry experience.
