IT Architect IV - SCADA

About the role

This challenging position enables you to utilize your technical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills to design the structure of specific IT systems and supervise programs to ensure the architecture is properly implemented. You will apply technical skills and work with internal and external business partners to create a vision and roadmap for our ever-evolving IT needs.

Responsibilities

• Decompose systems into smaller components and viewpoints, along with the enforced rules that enable consistent design across the enterprise
• Define the application tiers, frameworks, component types, and interfaces; specify and provide ownership of reusable application components or reusable application code
• Support Enterprise Application Integration
• Define the visual roadmap and perform design reviews
• Monitor emerging standards and set standards and technologies to be used by the enterprise
• Craft the architecture vision, conceptualize and experiment with alternative architectural approaches
• Build models, components, and interface specification documents; validate the architecture against requirements and assumptions
• Translate business requirements into repeatable design strategies, systems qualities, and patterns
• Solve problems with developers and address ongoing revisions or improvements of the architecture
• Analyze competitors, products, strategies, and product generation processes
• Survey external emerging developments, new technologies, standards, and methodologies
• Mentor, teach, and consult with other team members
• Develop and maintain SCADA architectures, integrating emerging technologies like Machine Learning and AI
• Ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with other company processes and enterprise architecture
• Improve system efficiency, provide troubleshooting guidance, and implement cybersecurity measures
• Offer on-call leadership support
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field
• Minimum six years of experience developing software systems and IT industry experience
• Proficient knowledge of architecture principles and design
• Knowledge of application and interface design
• Knowledge of all areas of IT, especially data center functions (servers, databases, networks, security)
• Experience creating and maintaining large enterprise architectures
• Proficiency in SCADA software, HMI/UI design, back-end development, database management, automated testing, DevOps, and programming (Python, VBScript, JavaScript, IEC 61131-3)
• Knowledge of interfaces and communication protocols
• Experience with project lifecycle fundamentals, Agile delivery, IT practices, policies, governance, and cybersecurity awareness
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten or more years of experience in the IT industry
• Prior experience in the oil and gas industry
• Experience in midstream oil and gas SCADA for pipeline control, with a deep understanding of pipeline automation, operations, engineering, measurement, control, and commercial concepts
• Proficient knowledge of scripting and how scripts work

Schedule

Less than 20% travel required, including the possibility for some international travel.
