About the role

The Systems Architect IV (Lead) provides advanced technical leadership in the design, standardization, and evolution of the organization’s infrastructure and platform environments. The role is responsible for architecting secure, scalable, and highly available systems that align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead implementation of complex, multi-domain system architectures across infrastructure, network, cloud, and platform environments.
  • Define and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and reference designs to ensure consistency, scalability, and security.
  • Lead architecture reviews and provide expert guidance on proposed technical solutions; identifying risks, trade-offs, and optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with security, infrastructure, application programming, and operations teams to ensure systems are secure by design and operationally resilient.
  • Architect solutions with appropriate considerations for availability, performance, capacity, lifecycle management, and cost optimization.
  • Promote and guide automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Resolve complex technical issues spanning multiple systems, teams, or domains of expertise to provide authoritative technical direction.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide strategic recommendations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop clear technical documentation, diagrams, and design artifacts to support implementation, operation, and governance.
  • Mentor infrastructure, database, networking, programming, and other technical teams, raising technical maturity and fostering a culture of architectural innovation and excellence.
  • Communicate architectural vision, decisions, and trade-offs effectively to leadership and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Advanced experience in supporting architecture in Microsoft Windows Server environments, including hypervisor administration, containerization and container orchestration, and failover clustering with high availability.
  • Deep experience designing and operating solutions in a hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructure (Preferring Microsoft Azure), including virtual networking, identity and authentication integration, storage, compute, and platform services.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting hybrid environments integrating on-premise Windows infrastructure with cloud services.
  • Strong scripting and automation expertise using languages such as PowerShell and Python, including development of reusable modules, automation frameworks, and configuration management scripting.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) leveraging frameworks such as Terraform, including modular design, state management, and CI/CD integration.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and optimizing database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, with understanding of availability, backup and recovery, and performance considerations.
  • Experience designing and supporting Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) workflows, including automated build, testing, deployment, and rollback strategies for infrastructure and application platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including version control, branching strategies, artifact management, and pipeline governance.
  • Experience implementing secure-by-design principles within Windows and Azure environments, including Identity Management (IdM), Role-based access control (RBAC), and privileged access management (PAM).
  • Experience developing and maintaining system monitoring, logging, and observability strategies across hybrid infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies and communicate strategic vision and tactical planning to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with an understanding of compliance, risk management, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in systems administration, enterprise architecture, or an equivalent role with increasing responsibility.
