IT Applications Engineer II

This individual contributor role focuses on assisting in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into software solutions, implementing and maintaining business software, and supporting systems integration and user acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

• Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date knowledge in subject area to meet deadlines; following procedures and policies; collaborating cross-functionally to solve business problems; supporting priorities and expectations; communicating progress; identifying improvement opportunities; and escalating issues or risks.

• Leverages DEVOPS, Waterfall, and Agile practices to design, develop, and deliver resilient, secure, multi-channel, high-volume, high-transaction, cloud-based, and on/off-premise solutions.
• Supports the recommendation of technical solutions that meet design and functional needs.
• Assists in the implementation and post-implementation triage of business software solutions, including programming and configuration support for enhancements to new or packaged-based systems.
• Supports identification of specific interfaces, methods, parameters, procedures, and functions for technical solutions.
• Provides systems incident support and troubleshooting for non-complex issues.
• Partners with IT teams and vendors to ensure code adheres to company architectural standards, design patterns, and technical specifications.
• Supports component integration testing (CIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Develops understanding of emerging technical trends and industry best practices.
• Executes unit testing to identify application errors and ensure software solutions meet functional specifications.
• Assists in reviewing business requirements and functional specifications for development into code modules.
• Supports the writing and reviewing of technical specifications and documentation.
• Develops technical expertise and knowledge of industry trends through publications and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field OR minimum two (2) years of experience in software development or a related field.
• One (1) year of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements for IT solutions (preferred).
• One (1) year of experience with engineering tools such as bug tracking and source code control systems (preferred).

Pay

$86,700 – $112,200 / year. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package, with pay determined based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours/week).
• Shift: Day (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
• Travel: Yes, up to 15% of the time.
• Work Setting: Flexible (worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente’s Authorized States policy).
