IT Engineer II

As an IT Engineer II in the Innovative Solutions Group’s IT Engineering department, you will design, document, test, and support technology installed in customer‑related projects, including communications, voice, video, and data systems, and integrate them with mechanical and electrical subsystems. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, IT Integration, Quality, and Program Management to ensure safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs. Engineering is organized into Teams (Standards and Modularity, Design, Advanced, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering) and Disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, IT, Human Factors, Software). IT Engineers may be temporarily assigned to any of these teams to support standards, design, advanced engineering, or manufacturing efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support IT systems for Nomad vehicles and platforms.
• Create and maintain IT build documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable security and governmental compliances, safety standards, and customer requirements.
• Support manufacturing by answering technical questions, resolving build issues, and improving design clarity.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, validation, and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Integration, Human Factor Engineering, Software Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams.
• Apply continuous improvement principles to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Uphold and model Nomad Core Values in all work.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen for consideration and meet all Federal Contractor employee requirements; H1B visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Level II expectations: independently design IT build documentation and BOM assemblies for assigned projects; own IT project design tasks end‑to‑end for small to mid‑complexity systems; create production‑ready IT build documentation; hands‑on involvement with prototype builds and failure investigation; release Build Documentation to manufacturing and support early production; regularly apply compliance requirements and standards (DISA list and TEMPEST) with minimal oversight; apply IT standards and best practices; support manufacturing troubleshooting and resolve moderate design issues; actively participate in design reviews and cross‑functional collaboration; perform basic system‑level testing and validation; demonstrate consistent quality, organization, and accountability; estimate effort, manage priorities, and meet engineering schedules; communicate effectively in writing and verbally with manufacturing, supply chain, and peers; interface directly with customers, suppliers, or regulatory bodies as needed.
• Physical demands: ability to stand and sit for extended periods; manual dexterity to operate office equipment; occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasional climbing or hands‑on testing; ability to work safely around energized systems when required; must be able to travel as needed.
