Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our backend engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise software solutions for fleet management and asset tracking applications. The role is intended for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher (e.g., Master’s) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related STEM field, with a strong foundation in computer science.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (e.g., Master’s) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related STEM field.
- Academic background in object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms through coursework or equivalent academic experience.
- Knowledge of Java or another object-oriented programming language.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web service concepts.
- Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Understanding of software engineering principles, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.
- Ability to work in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to backend development using Java and Spring Boot.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis).
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Exposure to microservices-based architecture concepts.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and REST-assured.
- Exposure to build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Exposure to version control workflows using Git or Subversion.
- Familiarity with fleet management, telematics, transportation or logistic related software applications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of backend components for Java-based enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of RESTful APIs and microservices based on system requirements.
- Support data modeling, relational database schema updates, and SQL query development for MySQL databases.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated unit, integration, and API tests using standard testing frameworks.
- Contribute to the development of integration projects using AWS cloud services including EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, and Kinesis.
- Collaborate using version control systems such as Git and Subversion following established workflows.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to improve code quality and maintainability.
- Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.
- Support CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance using standard tools and practices.
- Participate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to understand technical requirements and system workflows.
- Engage in technical learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement activities.
- Uphold organizational engineering standards and core values by engaging in team improvement initiatives and contributing ideas to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
