IT - ADMIN - Project Manager - Consultant

About the role

An experienced Project Manager Consultant is sought to support enterprise-level technology initiatives. This role is part of a Technology Operations IT Planning and Administration Project Management team and will be responsible for managing strategic and tactical IT projects that impact multiple state agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise-level IT projects from initiation through completion.
• Apply established project management methodologies and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Cook up activities, deliverables, schedules, and deadlines across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Collaborate with state agencies, information security teams, privacy offices, program management offices, and external vendors.
• Track project resources, timelines, risks, and deliverables.
• Develop and present regular status reports and project updates to leadership.
• Ensure projects are completed successfully and closed out with appropriate documentation and lessons learned.
• Support strategic and operational technology initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Information Technology, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
• Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and PMBOK standards.
• Strong financial planning and budgeting experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating reports, documentation, and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Prominent ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
• PMI training or PMP certification (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Project.
• Experience managing large-scale IT infrastructure, enterprise technology, or government-focused projects.

• Ability to understand and communicate complex technical projects to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated diplomacy and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
• Ability to quickly develop knowledge of organizational goals, objectives, and operational priorities.
