Position Summary

The Technical Project Manager III leads and executes complex projects that significantly impact organizational goals, managing multiple high-priority initiatives and coordinating cross-functional teams for successful outcomes. This role emphasizes strategic project results and long-term objectives, driving strategic initiatives and fostering continuous improvement.

About the Role

This role involves partnering with engineering and development teams to identify and assess technical risks, collaborating on technology decisions, and being actively involved in system architecture discussions, IT policy development, code reviews, and technical feasibility assessments. The incumbent will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including IT technical staff, business analysts, institute leaders, and external vendors/teams throughout each project.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with senior leadership and external partners to align objectives with organizational goals.
  • Lead project teams, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Implement quality assurance best practices and strategies for process optimization while expertly identifying, analyzing, and managing risks to ensure project success.
  • Lead vendor selection and implementation for medium to large projects.
  • Mentor project teams, promoting professional growth and a culture of excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibility of which at least four (4) years must be in project management OR comparable roles.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on strategic thinking and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, including scheduling solutions.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive change.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong competence with IT concepts including application development and support, networking, system integration, and information security.
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Proven experienced in formal project management methodologies, including waterfall, spiral, agile, lean, DMAIC, etc.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communications with staff and management who have varying levels of technical aptitude, bridging the gap between business constituents and technical IT resources, and influencing decisions.
