About the role
The IP Docketing Clerk is responsible for maintaining and managing intellectual property (IP) deadlines and records to ensure timely filings and compliance with U.S. patent and trademark regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update CPI and Anaqua PATTSY Wave IP docketing systems
- Absorb and assist attorneys, patent agents and other IP staff with filings and documentation
- Accurately enter, calculate, and track deadlines for patents, trademarks, and related filings based on applicable rules, statutes and procedures
- Coincide with foreign agents and clients regarding filing deadlines, manage all inbound and outbound client transfers as needed
- Monitor incoming USPTO correspondence and ensure deadlines are recorded promptly
- Generate and distribute regular docket reports and IP listings for clients and attorneys
- Utilize USPTO PAIR and TSDR, WIPO, E-Space, and foreign databases to perform routine status checks of patent and trademark applications
- Manage patent maintenance fees and foreign annuity payments
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- 5+ years of experience working as an IP docketing clerk preferred
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of USPTO processes
- Proficiency in docketing software such as CPI or Anaqua PATTSY Wave
- Advanced technical skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Project and case management skills, including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines with a high attention to detail
- Superior research, organizational and verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
Minimum of high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
