Job Summary

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, is seeking a dynamic full-time Associate Attorney in the IP Practice of our New Jersey office. The position offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.

About the Role

The Associate Attorney will support the IP Practice in strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios. They will draft and prosecute chemical- and mechanical-related patent applications, manage global patent portfolios, and prepare freedom-to-operate opinions. The ideal candidate will have at least two to five years of focused experience in these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting chemical- and mechanical-related patent applications
  • Prosecuting chemical- and mechanical-related patent applications
  • Managing global patent portfolios (preferred)
  • Preparing opinions concerning freedom-to-operate (preferred)

Requirements

  • Admitted to the New Jersey Bar or admitted as soon as practicable and registered to practice before the USPTO
  • A degree in chemical engineering or a related field such as materials science, chemistry, or equivalent strong relevant experience
  • A strong understanding of chemistry and related principles
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Strong writing and analytical skills

Qualifications

  • At least two to five years of focused experience in chemical- and mechanical-related patent prosecution
  • Experience managing global patent portfolios (preferred)
  • Experience preparing freedom-to-operate opinions (preferred)

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Effective communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $185,000 - $230,000 per year. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Schedule

Full-time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
