IP Associate
About the role
Burr & Forman is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate with three to five years of patent experience. The primary focus of this position is patent preparation and prosecution, with an opportunity to work on a wide variety of intellectual property matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications in various technical fields, including telecommunications, integrated circuits, or related technologies.
- Conduct patentability searches and analyze prior art to ensure patentability of inventions.
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues to understand their needs and provide clear, concise advice.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss intellectual property strategies and solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments within the firm to ensure seamless delivery of services to clients.
Requirements
- J.D. degree
- Membership in the applicable state bar
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Undergraduate degree in science or engineering
- Experience in telecommunications, integrated circuits, or related technologies

- Technical and analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of patent-related matters

The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation.
