About the role

The role of the Instructional Coach at Iowa Literacy involves supporting teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the science of reading. This includes facilitating professional development, observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to improve student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the science of reading.
• Facilitating professional development workshops and seminars.
• Observing classroom instruction and providing constructive feedback to enhance teaching methods.
• Mentoring and coaching teachers to improve their instructional skills.
• Assessing student progress and collaborating with teachers to develop individualized learning plans.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field.
• Experience working with K-12 students in a classroom setting or as a literacy coach.
• Knowledge of the science of reading and its application in the classroom.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Passion for improving literacy outcomes in K-12 settings.
