Responsibilities
- Partner with teachers and school leaders in local schools, whether in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Ogallala, or surrounding areas.
- Conduct classroom observations, model effective teaching techniques, and provide real-time feedback to ensure high-quality, standards-aligned reading instruction.
- Guide teams in analyzing assessment data to identify student needs and refine instructional practices.
- Offer virtual support to a rural school or prepare for upcoming visits.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of early literacy development and evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading (e.g. phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).
- Strong knowledge of structured literacy frameworks and their practical application in K-5 classrooms.
- Familiarity with Missouri's English Language Arts standards and early reading assessment tools like DIBELS, Acadience, and MAP.
- Proven ability to analyze student data to inform instruction and support tiered interventions.
- Experience coaching or mentoring educators with the ability to model lessons, facilitate planning sessions, and provide constructive feedback.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with teachers and school leaders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple coaching assignments, track progress and provide consistent follow-up.
- Proficiency in technology and virtual platforms to support coaching in both in-person and remote settings.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's degree in Education, Reading, Special Education, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience working in K-5 classrooms, preferably in a literacy-focused capacity.
- Knowledge of Missouri's English Language Arts standards and early reading assessment tools.
- Experience with structured literacy frameworks and their practical application in K-5 classrooms.
- Proven ability to analyze student data to inform instruction and support tiered interventions.
