iOS Engineer (Canada)
About the role
Superhuman offers a remote-flexible working model for this role on the Mail team. This gives team members plenty of focus time and the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they're based, while staying closely connected to a collaborative, tight-knit team culture. For those based in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle, a hybrid setup is also available.
Superhuman Mail is central to how people communicate and get work done. Today, we’re the fastest email experience in the world—and one our customers truly love. On the Superhuman Mail team, you will own our iOS mobile roadmap outcomes alongside the Engineering Manager and Product Manager. We’re redefining inbox management with an ambitious roadmap. Mobile is where Superhuman becomes a daily habit: users who use both desktop and mobile activate and send at roughly 3x the rate of desktop-only users, and mobile is emerging as one of the company’s most promising growth channels.
We’re looking for an engineer who can own product and technical strategy end-to-end; someone who will tackle hard problems, set the bar, and elevate the team. You will help shape not just what we build, but how we build, defining a one-to-two-year vision for our mobile platform and leading the team into an AI-native way of working.
Responsibilities
- Identify and personally own the highest-complexity, highest-impact engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams.
- Own the one-to-two-year technical vision for our mobile platform: architecture, technical foundations, and the roadmap of investments that keep us fast and reliable as we scale.
- Partner with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to define product strategy—where we go, why, and how—grounded in a deep understanding of the user, goals, and key metrics, then drive execution to deliver results.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers to grow in execution, judgment, and influence.
- Drive alignment across functions, navigating ambiguity and organizational complexity to proactively land the right outcomes.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in iOS development or related roles (additional experience with full-stack development across clients and backend systems is a plus).
- Expertise in Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, and iOS frameworks.
- Track record of shipping high-quality, delightful mobile experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead technical direction, manage priorities across multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in 0-to-1 environments (early-stage or new-product work).
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to mentor and support other engineers.
- Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and a point of view on how they change software development.
- Strong product instincts—you care about the end-user experience and can make tradeoffs between speed and reliability.
Benefits
- Excellent health care (including medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits).
- Disability and life insurance options.
- 401(k) and RRSP matching.
- Paid parental leave.
- 20 days of paid time off per year, 12 paid holidays, two floating holidays, and flexible sick time.
- Generous stipends (caregiving, pet care, wellness, home office, and more).
- Annual professional development budget and opportunities.
Pay
Superhuman takes a market-based approach to compensation. Base pay may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary range for this position is CA$168K - CA$291K.
