IOP Therapist

About the Role

NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is a national leader in behavioral healthcare, specializing in patients with acute psychiatric and complex medical needs. Our hospitals use an interdisciplinary, multi-specialty approach that delivers high-quality, patient-centered care. The IOP Therapist at Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake, Texas will provide individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy to adults and adolescents in our Physician-directed intensive outpatient program.

Responsibilities

• Conducts psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members.
• Communicates with physicians to report patient progress, needs, concerns, and potential and actual problems.
• Works closely with all members of the healthcare team in the development of the plan of treatment, including discharge plans, based on the psychosocial assessment and accepted social work interventions.
• Provides group and family process-oriented therapies, as well as conducts educational and other didactic groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.
• Provides social work services including short-term individual counseling, group therapy, community resource planning, and crisis intervention.
• Develops and coordinates an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and chart information to determine the patient's aftercare needs.
• Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of referral resources throughout the service area.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party reimbursement sources.
• Demonstrates skill in writing individualized, behavioral, and measurable treatment goals based on information from the psychosocial assessment and psychiatric evaluation.
• Conducts daily group therapy sessions, as well as individual and/or family therapy sessions.
• Obtains insurance benefit information, authorization for treatment, and performs ongoing utilization reviews.
• Files all progress notes in the medical record within 24 hours of the date of service.
• Completes master treatment plans, daily suicide risk assessments, discharge planning, and pre-authorization/reviews of insurance.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
• Independent License in Counseling (LPC) or Social Work (LCSW) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Handle with Care (HWC) certifications are required and obtained during orientation.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health or healthcare required; 3 years of experience preferred.
