IOP/PSC Team Lead - Houston, TX

About the Role

The Lead for the Phlebotomy Solutions team supports day-to-day operations, ensuring excellence in patient care coordination, phlebotomy services, and administrative operations. This role focuses on team management, operational efficiency, and compliance, with up to 50% travel required for audits, onsite visits, and team training. The Lead may also cover clinics, serving patients by identifying blood retrieval methods, preparing specimens, and performing screening procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination and execution of audits, including regular quality checks on patient coordination, specimen documentation, and communication logs (e.g., MPX platform).
• Support onsite visit preparations and shadow staff to ensure protocol adherence and process improvement.
• Provide daily operational support to the Phlebotomy Solutions team, including supervision, mentorship, and development of phlebotomists.
• Handle recruitment, onboarding, and training of new in-office phlebotomists.
• Ensure compliance with specimen handling protocols and EMR documentation.
• Proactively mitigate operational issues and oversee supply chain needs, including ordering and tracking supplies.
• Partner with Field Sales, Clinical Operations, and Compliance to resolve issues and ensure cohesive patient support.
• Assist with team meetings to share updates, disseminate best practices, and reinforce Natera’s standards of excellence.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Supervisory or team-lead experience in a clinical or laboratory setting strongly preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certificate required as per state regulations.

Skills

• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
• High proficiency in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and time management.
• Familiarity with clinical compliance standards.
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Remote setting with up to 50% travel for audits, site visits, and team support.
• Must follow clinical safety standards and wear appropriate attire, including scrubs, when on-site.
