About the role

This position involves independently planning and conducting complex investigations and/or financial examinations relating to health care fraud civil actions. You will participate in investigative activities with federal, state, and local officials.

Responsibilities

  • Work with assigned attorneys to determine applicable administrative statutory and regulatory law and identify possible violations or causes of action.
  • Compile documents and physical evidence, and create charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audio-visual materials for use in motions and at trial.
  • Independently handle cases as a lead investigator, dealing with obscure leads, few visible records, uncooperative witnesses, and conflicting evidence.
  • Develop an understanding of all applicable federal, state, or local laws to the extent necessary to make sound decisions on the direction and scope of investigations.
  • Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing transactions, events, or allegations under investigation.
  • Prepare interim and final reports on the progress of investigations for use by attorneys.

Requirements

  • To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level, or a combination of education and experience as described.
  • To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level, or a combination of education and experience as described.
  • To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, or a combination of education and experience as described.

Qualifications

  • GS-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level; or a combination of education and experience as explained.
  • GS-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level; or a combination of education and experience as explained.
  • GS-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level; or a combination of education and experience as explained.

Pay

Salary range for GS-9 is $52,460 to $78,700; GS-11 is $68,970 to $95,230; GS-12 is $85,500 to $111,760.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week.
