Investigator

Job Description and Duties

The Investigator conducts complex investigations into violations under the DFPI's authority and prepares documentation detailing findings for the department to take appropriate action. The Investigator will prepare and execute search warrants and legal documents. The Investigator will locate and conduct interviews with witnesses and suspects, make physical arrests for criminal offenses, conduct undercover and surveillance operations, and coordinate with other agencies for joint operations. They will assist department counsel with referrals to other agencies, act as investigative support to counsel, and appear and testify as a witness in trials and proceedings.

Working Conditions

This job requires reporting on site, however, telework may be available once established. Sacramento Location: The Sacramento office is in the new state-of-the-art May Lee State Office Complex in Sacramento's River District, conveniently located next to Light Rail. On-site parking is available for a fee.

Conflict of Interest

The incumbent is required to submit a Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st and within 30 days of leaving office.

Position Details: CalHR has authorized the DFPI to pay candidates hired in the Investigator Classification a hire above minimum (H.A.M.) rate of $6,974 for Range A and $8,037 for Range B.

Department Information: The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products.
