About the role

The United States Attorney's Office, District of Montana seeks qualified candidates to fill the position of Investigative Analyst. Well-qualified surplus/displaced Federal employees (CTAP/ICTAP), current/former Federal employees in permanent competitive service positions (status candidates), VEOA eligibles, and those eligible for non-competitive appointment under special hiring authorities, e.g., Individuals with Disabilities, Military Spouses, former Overseas employees, VISTA/Peace Corps, some Land Management employees, and certain veterans, e.g., VRA, 30% Disabled.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing evidence obtained from investigators, analysts, and law enforcement officers and collects information relating to this evidence.
  • Examining books, ledgers, payroll, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, computer data, and other records pertaining to the transactions, events or allegations under investigations.
  • Assisting in analysis and compilation of documents and physical evidence.
  • Creating charts, graphs, video tapes, and other audio-visual materials for use in motions and at trial.
  • Conducting independent research to reconstruct events, establish possible criminal associations, detect trends and develop case-specific subject profiles.
  • Producing and disseminating investigative reports.

Requirements

Typical work assignments will include:

  • Reviewing data to identify criminal or fraudulent activity;
  • Collecting and analyzing evidence from law enforcement to prepare investigative reports;
  • Evaluating evidence from various sources and creating graphs, charts and videos from data to assist fraud prosecutors and agents.

Qualifications

  • GS-09: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- grade level in Federal Service, or a combination of education and experience.
  • GS-11: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in Federal Service, or a combination of education and experience.

Education
