About the role
The Office of Special Investigations (OSI) is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Investigative Analysts (IA) within the Intake, Training, and Analysis Division (ITAD).
Responsibilities
- Specializes in tactical intelligence analysis to support and advance OSI’s criminal and administrative investigations.
- Performs statistical and trends analysis regarding violence or misconduct within correctional facilities.
- Produces and disseminates bulletins, white papers, and memos to support OSI executives, as well as departmental and facility-based leadership.
- Generates data, reports, and findings to enable informed risk-mitigation decisions based on an “intelligence-led” model.
Requirements
- Appropriate licensure and certifications (including being or becoming a peace officer qualified to carry a firearm).
- Pass an OSI background check.
- Two years of investigative / analytical experience; or a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, crime analysis, intelligence analysis, homeland security or a closely related field can serve as a substitute for two years of experience.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrative evidence of integrity, ethical behavior, and the ability to conduct, fair, thorough, and impartial investigations.
- Preference for candidates demonstrating proficiency in statistical analysis, intelligence analysis, writing, and public speaking.
- If the person is located in an OSI office besides the Albany office, travel to Albany as needed will be necessary.
- Ability to be on-call, travel for trainings, and deploy across the state to meet the Office’s operational needs.
