About the role
Certarus is the North American leader in providing low carbon energy solutions through a fully integrated compressed natural gas (CNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen platform. The company safely delivers clean-burning fuels to remote communities and industrial customers not connected to a pipeline. This leadership role will develop and implement systems and processes for identifying and tracking the company’s inventory and distribution of equipment, assets, and materials, while overseeing procurement, strategic sourcing, and vendor relationships. Based in Houston, the successful candidate will travel throughout North America to operational locations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operations, customs, logistics, and finance to identify and maintain resources needed for effective inventory.
- Manage a team of direct and indirect reports located throughout North America.
- Establish performance metrics to evaluate factors affecting inventory levels and drive efficient total cost of ownership.
- Develop and maintain detailed inventories of materials and supplies at company facilities, job sites, and manufacturing facilities.
- Maintain optimal quantities of supplies and materials to support maintenance operations.
- Analyze current inventories and procedures; suggest improvements to increase supply chain efficiency and profitability.
- Develop policies to enhance supply chain efficiency while ensuring quality and safety; implement process changes.
- Identify optimal shipments with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
- Assess material-handling resource and staffing needs; recommend solutions for efficient accountability and storage.
- Negotiate prices for parts and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and shipping companies.
- Serve as an advisory member of the engineering team, providing guidance on availability and cost of supplies.
- Coordinate engineering changes, asset retrofits, or new asset fielding to ensure timely material availability.
- Monitor supplier performance, assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements, and qualify new suppliers.
- Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture within Certarus.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or training in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a combination of education and related work experience.
- Minimum five years of related work experience.
- Previous management or supervision experience with proven leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of company products and coordination.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Supply Chain Management designations such as SCPM PMAC, APICS, or equivalent (or working toward) is considered an asset.
