Position Overview
The news team at Austin PBS is looking for an eager, creative, self-motivated intern to join our team. As a weekly news intern, you’ll help support the weekly news program, Austin InSight and our ongoing community-based journalism project, Decibel. Interns get real hands-on experience and are an integral part of our team.
Responsibilities
- Write segments for weekly news show
- Assist with studio production and field productions
- Pitch story ideas in weekly meetings
- Create new social media friendly content from existing packages
- Pitch and coordinate studio and remote interviews
- Staff remote shoots
- Perform other duties as needed
- Research topical issues and current events
Requirements
- Current undergraduate student, must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program during the full duration of the internship
- Strongly prefer candidates majoring in journalism or related field
- Student must be available for a minimum of 13 weeks of this internship
- Internship will be in-person, with some hybrid work
- 15-20 hour weekly commitment
Pay
Pay Rate: $20/hr.
