Job Summary
This position supports communication and marketing efforts through the creation and editing of written content for websites, newsletters, social media, email campaigns, and promotional materials. This position will assist with content development, proofreading, and storytelling projects that support student recruitment and engagement. This position offers valuable experience in professional writing, content strategy, and digital communications within a higher education environment.
Responsibilities
- Aid in writing and editing content for websites, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and promotional materials.
- Support the development of stories and feature content that highlight student experiences, academic programs, and campus initiatives.
- Proofread and review content for accuracy, grammar, clarity, and consistency.
- Aid in content updates and maintenance across digital communication platforms.
- Support marketing, recruitment, and student engagement projects.
- Help organize content calendars, drafts, and communication materials.
- Provide general support for writing, content development, and digital communication projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Special Qualification
- Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) for undergraduate students, and (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate) for graduate students.
- Be an international student with full-time enrollment at CSUSB.
- Earn a Social Security Card.
Preferred Qualifications
- Detail-oriented, punctual, and reliable.
- Affinity for other cultures and languages is preferred.
- Courses in English, Creative Writing, Communication Studies, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with content creation for websites, newsletters, blogs, or social media.
- Organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or content management systems.
Compensation And Benefits
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour or (Determined by Federal Work Study). The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information
- Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
- Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
- Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
