Job Description

We’re looking for an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Examiner to join our UI operations team, which is responsible for administrating South Carolina’s unemployment insurance claims processes. This role will be responsible for issuing non-monetary decisions that determine claimant eligibility for UI benefits while providing support, assistance, and problem resolution within the UI Operations Department. An ideal candidate will be customer-service oriented with the ability to manage their time well and support a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize appropriate agency standards, handbooks, and software systems when making claims analysis and making administrative adjustments.
• Issue determinations in accordance with Benefit Timeliness Quality (BTQ) standards, SC Codes of Laws, SC regulations, and UI Division policy and guidelines.
• Provide ongoing support, assistance, and guidance to other UI positions as workload dictates as provided for by Career Pathways.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and 1+ year relevant experience.
• 4+ years demonstratable experience processing claims, adjudicating, issuing administrative determinations, auditing, or similar activities may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations that govern the administration of UI Benefits.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion while complying with applicable policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly, timely, and effectively in written and oral form.
