About the Role
The Assistant State Veteran Coordinator serves within the Employment Services (ES) division, which improves the labor market by connecting jobseekers with employers. The SC Works system provides career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance to jobseekers, while offering free tools for employers, such as job postings, candidate recruitment, and labor market insights. This role involves assisting the State Veterans Coordinator in monitoring, training, and providing technical assistance to programmatic staff, state office personnel, and American Jobs Center teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG).
- Monitor and improve federal performance measures for Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) and Local Veterans' Employment Representative (LVER) programs.
- Ensure training and proficiency of DVOPs and LVERs.
- Develop a system to assess staff capabilities.
- Coordinate with other service providers to help veterans overcome employment barriers.
- Plan and execute off-site training by the National Veterans Training Institute.
- Oversee and manage JVSG DVOP and LVER grants to ensure quality workforce services for veterans and eligible persons.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Four years of experience in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity.
- Extensive knowledge of veteran employment services laws, regulations, and review techniques.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to comprehend federal and state guidelines.
- Experience in planning, coordinating, and evaluating staff work.
Additional Requirements
- Overnight travel is required.
- Routine driving as part of the job.
- May require working evenings and weekends.
