Position Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist plays a vital role in keeping Morgan Properties' employees informed, connected, and engaged across a large, geographically distributed workforce. This position is the hands-on owner of the company's day-to-day internal communications — translating strategic direction into polished, on-brand content that reaches the right employees, through the right channels, at the right time. This is an execution-focused individual contributor role. Working under the guidance of the Director, Employee Experience, the Specialist is responsible for writing and producing communications across a broad range of channels — from email campaigns and intranet content to digital signage, mobile/SMS, and leadership messaging. The role requires a skilled storyteller who can simplify complex information, adapt voice and tone for diverse audiences, and maintain a high standard of quality and consistency across every touchpoint. Success in this role demands someone who is both detail-oriented and highly organized — someone who can manage a busy editorial calendar, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently deliver polished work on deadline. The Specialist also brings a collaborative mindset, building relationships across departments to surface employee stories, support communications for key initiatives, and ensure frontline employees who lack regular desk or email access are never left behind. The core mission of this role is to make every Morgan Properties employee feel informed and valued — no matter where they work. The ideal candidate is adaptable, tech-savvy, and motivated by the challenge of communicating effectively at scale, including through emerging AI-assisted workflows that support the speed and reach our workforce demands.

Essential Duties

  • Content Creation & Messaging — Write, edit, and produce internal communications — including announcements, briefs, intranet articles, email campaigns, and digital signage — in a clear, consistent, and on-brand voice. Translate complex, technical, or sensitive updates into simple, engaging content tailored for a multi-site employee audience. Draft and package executive and leadership messaging under the direction of the Director, ensuring accuracy, appropriate tone, and alignment to strategic themes.
  • Channel Management & Distribution — Manage the day-to-day operation of all internal communication channels — email, intranet, mobile/SMS, digital displays, and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Viva Engage. Maintain the enterprise editorial calendar, keeping content scheduled, segmented, and distributed on time for both field-based and corporate audiences. Own communication templates, brand standards, and the asset library to ensure consistency across every touchpoint. Partner with site and regional contacts to ensure critical messages reach frontline employees who may lack regular access to email or shared devices.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement — Track, analyze, and report on communication performance metrics — including open rates, reach, readership, and engagement — and share insights with the Director on a regular cadence. Gather employee feedback on communications effectiveness and recommend actionable improvements to content strategy, format, and channel mix. Utilize AI tools — within guidelines established by the Director — to support drafting, editing, translation, personalization, and scaling of content for a distributed workforce.
  • Collaboration & Campaign Support — Partner with functional teams across the organization to source employee stories, surface key updates, and support their internal communication needs. Provide communications planning and execution support for company-wide campaigns, change management initiatives, and culture-building programs as directed. Maintain a steady pipeline of employee recognition moments and stories that reinforce Morgan Properties' culture, values, and sense of community.
  • Additional Duties — Tasks or duties not outlined in this job description may be required to contribute to the organization's success and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience — Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered. 1-3 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, content strategy, or a related field. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a demonstrated ability to adapt voice and tone for different audiences and channels. Hands-on experience managing internal communication channels, including email marketing platforms, intranet/CMS systems, and collaboration tools. Experience developing communications for frontline, or geographically distributed workforces strongly preferred. Comfort and sound judgment using AI tools to support content creation, editing, personalization, and scaled distribution. Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Tools & Systems — Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Microsoft 365 communication tools including SharePoint, Teams, and Viva Engage (or equivalent platforms). Familiarity with email marketing or employee communications platforms (e.g., Beekeeper, Poppulo, Staffbase, or similar).
