As an Internal Auditor at NDRIO, your insights will guide leaders in managing risk, tightening controls, and optimizing operations, ensuring that every decision we make is grounded in accountability and transparency. You’ll play a vital role in enhancing operational effectiveness, ensuring compliance, and advising leadership on risk and control matters.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform audits of agency activities, from routine to complex
• Assess risk, develop audit scope, and evaluate internal controls and compliance with policies and laws
• Prepare and present audit reports with findings, recommendations, and follow-up evaluations
• Provide advisory services on new systems, business processes, and initiatives to ensure effective risk management
• Coordinate with external auditors and consultants, assisting with documentation, testing, and reviews
• Contribute to risk assessments and participate in committees, task forces, and special projects

Requirements

• An analytical and detail-oriented approach to evaluating internal controls and compliance with policies, laws, and industry standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to present findings clearly, constructively, and confidently to leadership
• The initiative to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams, projects, and external partnerships
• A problem-solving mindset that contributes not only to identifying issues but also to strengthening processes and supporting continuous improvement
• Curiosity and adaptability to learn new systems, technologies, and business processes as the agency evolves

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, auditing, business administration, finance, information technology, investments, or a closely related field
• An Associate’s degree and three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the above requirements; or a comparable combination of education and relevant work experience that provides equivalent knowledge and skills will also be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of internal auditing, external auditing, accounting, compliance, or risk management experience
• Experience auditing investments, pension plans, governmental entities, or financial institutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and presenting results to management or governing boards
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships while maintaining independence and objectivity

Pay

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 annually, dependent upon experience

Schedule

Upon successful completion of a probationary period, the selected candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with the option to work remotely 1-2 days per week, while working at least 3 days onsite at our Bismarck office.
